Essiac Tea

Essiac Tea: Is It A Viable Herbal Remedy?
Essiac tea is not a typical tea as we know it, rather it is a mixture of several different herbs. This tea mixture is praised as a treatment for certain types of cancer as well as other health problems, including AIDS, asthma, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes, immune deficiencies, liver problems and Lyme Disease.
This particular type of herbal tea is most frequently made from a combination of four different herbs: greater burdock root, slippery elm, sheep sorrel and rhubarb root. This is the original recipe for Essiac tea, but some newer blends have been created to boost the healing qualities of this supplement. Most of these mixtures include blessed thistle, kelp, red clover and watercress.
One of the most important results that have been claimed from of this herbal remedy is the changing of tumors back into normal tissue. Advocates of this type of tea have said that the tea actually changes the makeup of a tumor, causing it to soften, shrink and then be discharged from the body.
While there is no clinical evidence that this tea treatment will always have a positive effect on tumors, there has been some positive testimony regarding the use of this tea as a natural healing supplement. Additionally, a few studies have shown that certain chemical components of essiac have both anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory properties. Other experiments have shown essiac to have cancer-fighting abilities as well.
When used as a cancer treatment, proponents of essiac say that it enhances the immune system, acts as a pain reliever, shrinks tumors and extends survival rates. There have also been claims that this substance encourages cell repair, cleanses the blood and removes toxins from the body.
As with many natural health remedies, there is some controversy surrounding the use of Essiac tea, also known as Herbal Essence, Medicine Man Tea, Tea for Life and Vitalitea, as a viable cancer treatment. This is largely due to the fact that these treatments have not been scientifically tested, and because they are considered natural supplements, they do not need the approval of the Food and Drug Administration.
The important thing to do when choosing a natural treatment like Essiac – especially if you are already sick – is to consult a physician. It is normal to want to try anything that may offer a cure for any serious illness you are facing, but it is imperative to be aware of any dangers homeopathic substances may present. While most natural medicines are harmless, certain dosages or combinations of normally healthy substances can be dangerous or fall far short of the desired effect.
Herbal remedies like Essiac tea have been used for thousands of years for healing and to promote overall well being. You may be pleasantly surprised by what these natural supplements are capable of, or you may find yourself sadly disappointed. Just be wise, get a doctor’s advice and use caution whenever entering a new and unknown treatment.
